Overview
Learn about users in PlanRadar, what groups are and what you can do with them.
Everyone collaborating in your PlanRadar account needs a user. Users can be created or invited. Read more in Login to PlanRadar, Create & Invite Users and Manage Users on your Account.
User Types
There are three types of users:
- In-house users have no limitations and therefore require a PlanRadar license.
- Sub-contractors are for free, but can only see tickets that are assigned to them and have other restrictions. Read more in User Types.
- Watchers are for free, can view almost everything, but not edit and have other limitations.
In-house users can have specific permission to fit your business needs. Read more in Permissions.
Groups
Groups can be used to efficiently manage project memberships and assign tickets to multiple users. This is particularly useful if you work with subcontractors and want to enable their whole team to work on a ticket.
A user can belong to one or more groups.
Assign Tickets to Groups
Tickets can be assigned to one user or group. If you assign a ticket to a group, however, all group members can see it, as if it had been assigned to each of them individually.
Read more in Set the Assignee & Receivers of a Ticket.
Create Groups & Add them to Projects
Groups are created at account level and then assigned to projects as required. When a group is assigned to a project, any group member who is not yet in the project is added automatically.
Read more in Create & Manage Groups and Manage Groups of a Project.
Users Managed by Group
All users that are added to a project by a group, are managed by that group. Users are not managed by that group, if they are already being managed by a different group within the same project, or if they are already individual project members.
In-house users who are managed by a group also inherit the group's role. You can still assign them a different role, but then they will no longer be managed by that group for that particular project.
Edit Group Members
When adding members to a group, these users will automatically be added to all projects the group is a member of. When removing members of a group, you can choose to remove them from affected projects if they are managed by that group or you can choose to just remove them from the group while keeping them as individual project members.
