Overview
Besides user permissions that apply to the whole account, you can define roles with specific permissions to control what users can do in their projects. Roles are applied when adding users or groups to projects. They can have a different role in each project.

Access & Permissions
To create and edit roles you need an in-house user with the user permission 'Roles'.
To edit the role of a user in a project you need an in-house user with the user permission 'Projects'. Subcontractors and watchers don't have access to Roles. Read more in Permissions.
How to access Roles
- Hover over User Management
- Click Roles
Create a New Role
To create a new role:
- Click Create role
- Enter a role name
- Set permissions
To grant a permission to a role, mark the corresponding checkbox. Conversely, to revoke a permission from a role, clear the checkbox beside it. For all available permissions read more in Permissions > Role Permissions
- Click Save
- Click Run automatic assignment
This adds the role to existing form fields automatically. If you want to restrict access to certain form fields you can do that now. Read more in Field Permissions.
Once you have created a new role, you can assign it to users and groups in the project. Read more in Assign Projects to a User or Add Users to Projects and Manage Groups of a Project.
Edit Roles
To edit existing roles:
- Click the more menu next to the role you want to edit
- Click Edit role
- Change permissions
To grant a permission to a role, mark the corresponding checkbox. Conversely, to revoke a permission from a role, clear the checkbox beside it. For all available permissions read more in Permissions > Role Permissions - Click Save
For mobile users that are offline, permissions are synced once they are online and sync their data.
