Overview
To use the PlanRadar SiteView feature you need the following specific hardware:
- Insta360 X4 camera - available here
- Spare batteries & power bank - available here
- SD card - available here
- Helmet with camera mount - available here
Camera
SiteView is optimised for the Insta360 X4 camera only. Make sure the newest firmware version is install on the camera. Firmware updates can be done using the Insta360 mobile app.
Do NOT use lens guards. They cause bad results because of reflections.
Battery
- The battery lasts approximately 2 hours of video recording.
- It takes about 1 hour to fully charge a battery.
Estimate the number of runs you'll perform in a session and bring extra batteries, a charger, and a power bank if needed. We recommend having extra batteries for the Insta360 X4.
Storage
- 3 minutes of video requires about 1GB of storage.
- A 128GB SD card can hold approximately 5 hours of video.
Ensure you have enough available space on the micro SD card in your camera or bring additional cards. A SanDisk Extreme is a suitable choice.
Helmet & Camera Mount
- The camera must be mounted on a helmet for steady camera movement and to prevent the person recording the run from being seen.
- Do not use a handheld stick, as it results in less stable video compared to a helmet mount.
- The camera must be upright, with the lenses pointing left and right.
Any mount that fits on a helmet and has an M8 screw for the camera, like this one or this, will work.
Lamps
Good lighting conditions are essential for the quality of the captured material.
If there is insufficient lighting in the environment you want to capture, we recommend using lamps mounted on the helmet to ensure good lighting for the full 360° that the camera will capture.
LED strips on the front and back of the helmet produce significantly better results than the spotlight from a flashlight.
We recommend two Adventure Lights (or similar products) on your helmet.
Keep these lamps on for the entire run, even if only certain areas require extra light.
