Overview
Create a Run with the PlanRadar Mobile App is the easier and recommended way to record and upload runs.
Alternatively, you can still do it as described in Record a Run with the Insta360 App and here.
To upload your recorded run from the camera to the PlanRadar Webapp, follow the steps below.
Processing a Run
Once the recording is uploaded, it will be processed by PlanRadar servers to become available as a run in PlanRadar SiteView. Note that this process can be time-consuming, typically taking about 2 hours for every 5 minutes of video. You will receive a notification once the processing is complete.
Access & Permissions
SiteView is available for Starter, Pro and Enterprise accounts. Read more in Pricing and Subscription.
The feature only becomes available after you Activate SiteView in the Webapp.
To upload a run in the Webapp, you need an in-house user with a role permission to create runs in SiteView. Read more in Permissions.
How to Access SiteView
- Click SiteView
Plan Requirements
For optimal results it is recommended to use architectural plans. It is important that structural elements like walls are the most prominent elements.
Read more in SiteView Plan Requirements.
Get the Video Files from the Camera
- Get the camera with the recordings you took as described in Record a Run with the Insta360 App.
- Connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable.
- Copy the original video files (.insv) to your computer.
Alternatively, you can remove the micro SD card from the camera and insert it into a card reader in your computer to copy the video files. However, copying directly from the camera is recommended for convenience, as the SD card is not easily accessible.
Do NOT use the Insta360 app to share your footage as this will alter the files.
Create & Upload a Run
Before you can start uploading, you need to set the position on the plan where you began recording.
Setting the correct starting position is crucial to ensure the captured images are accurately placed on the plan. An incorrect start position will require the entire run to be re-processed, which can take several hours. For adjustments, see View & Manage Runs> Flag a Run as Invalid & Reset Starting Position.
To identify your starting position:
- Create a ticket in the PlanRadar app to mark your starting position. This helps you easily find it again. See Checklist: Before the Recording > Define Starting Position.
-
Alternatively:
- Play the video in the Insta360 app on your phone.
- Open the .insv file with Insta360 Studio on your computer.
To create and upload a run:
- Select a layer
- Click + Create runs
- Click + Add new video
- Click Upload file
- Select the .insv file in the file browser
-
OR use drag and drop instead
- Set the starting position by dragging and dropping the pin
- Click ✔ to confirm the starting position
-
Optional: Select the Outdoor run checkbox if the inspection took place in open air.
The checkbox is disabled if you have not yet calibrated the north arrow as described in SiteView Plan Requirements > Calibrate North Arrow for a Plan. - Optional: Click Change starting position, if you have confirmed it on an incorrect position.
- Click Create run to start the upload
From Uploading to Processing a Run
Once you click Create run, the recording will upload in the background. This may take a few minutes depending on the file size and your internet connection.
Do not close your browser or PlanRadar session during the upload.
Runs will not be available for viewing until processing is complete.
