Overview
You can import schedules from Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject and Primavera P6. You can also export Microsoft Project files or use them to update your existing schedule.
Read the general introduction to Schedules and Create a Schedule to get a basic understanding about this feature.
Access & permissions
Schedules is available to Pro and Enterprise accounts. Read more in Pricing and Subscription.
To create or edit schedules (modifications are only available in the Webapp) you need an in-house user with a role permission to manage schedules.
Subcontractors don't have access to schedules. Read more in User Types and Permissions.
How to access Schedule
- Click Schedule
Import New Schedules
Instead of creating phases manually as describe in Create, Edit or Delete a Phase, you can start setting up your schedule in PlanRadar by importing a file from Microsoft Project (.mpp, .xml), Asta Powerproject (.pp) or Primavera P6 (.xer).
When importing schedules the duration of phases are kept as-is and start and end dates are recalculated based on the schedule start date, dependencies, and according to the working days configuration.
Milestones are currently not supported and imported as 1-day phases in order to preserve any dependencies that require a duration in PlanRadar. Advanced constraints such as "Start No Earlier Than" are currently not supported.
To import a schedule file:
- Open the More menu
- Click Import schedule
- Drag & drop the file from your desktop to the Drop file here area
-
OR Click My Computer and select the file in the file browser
- Click Upload
Update Existing Schedules
Update an existing schedule by importing an updated version of the file. This allows you to make changes while keeping all phases and progress intact. Before applying the update, you'll see a confirmation dialogue summarising the expected changes and have the option to download a backup.
Use the updated version of the original file to ensure that all phases are correctly matched. If you save it as a new file using 'Save As' or 'Duplicate', new IDs will be created, preventing changes from being recognised.
Begin the update process as described above in Import a New Schedule and continue with the confirmation dialogue:
- Check the summary of how many phases will be added, updated and deleted.
- Optional: Click View detailed changes to list all affected phases.
- Optional: Click Download backup (strongly recommended).
- Select the I understand that the following action cannot be undone checkbox.
- Click Next to start the update.
Export Schedules for Microsoft Project
To export your PlanRadar schedule in a Microsoft Project format (including linked tickets):
- Open the More menu
- Click Export schedule for MS Project (.xml)
The downloaded file is named '[Project name]_Schedule.xml".
You can also Export a Schedule as PDF.
