Using PlanRadar

Connect Your AI App to PlanRadar with MCP (Beta)

Overview

Connect an AI app such as ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex or LangDock to PlanRadar. You can then ask the AI app about your projects in your own words, across all your projects at once, and let it make changes for you, such as updating a ticket or adding a comment.

The AI app works as you. It sees only what you can see in PlanRadar and does only what your user is allowed to do.

The connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP). You do not need to know how MCP works: you copy one URL from PlanRadar into your AI app and log in with your PlanRadar user.

Access & Permissions

  • Your projects only. The AI app sees only the projects you are a member of, and only what your role in each project lets you see.
  • One switch for the whole account. An account admin turns on MCP once for the account. There is no setting per user. Each user connects and disconnects their own AI app.
  • Changes are yours. Every change the AI app makes shows in PlanRadar as made by you, for example in the ticket history, like a change you made yourself.

Turn On MCP for Your Account

An account admin does this once for the whole account. The setting is only visible once PlanRadar has turned on the beta for your account.

To turn on MCP:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Click Account Settings
  3. Open the Settings tab
  4. Select Enable MCP
  5. Click Save

Copy Your MCP Server URL

Each user needs the MCP server URL to connect their AI app.

To copy the URL:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Click Profile
  3. Click Connected AI apps
  4. Under MCP server URL, click Copy

For most accounts the URL is https://www.planradar.com/mcp. Accounts on another PlanRadar instance have their own address, so always use the URL shown on this page.

Connect Your AI App

Every AI app connects the same way: you add PlanRadar with your MCP server URL, log in with your PlanRadar user and confirm on the PlanRadar page.

When your AI app asks how to authenticate, choose OAuth 2.0 with Dynamic Client Registration and leave client ID and client secret empty. PlanRadar registers the app for you.

If your company manages the AI app for you, an admin of that app may have to allow or add PlanRadar first. Each tab says when.

In a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace, a workspace admin must allow Developer mode for members, or add PlanRadar as an app for the whole workspace. Developer mode is not available on the free plan.

To connect ChatGPT:

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Security and login
  2. Turn on Developer mode
  3. Click Plugins in the left sidebar
  4. Click Create app
  5. Enter a name, for example "PlanRadar"
  6. Under Connection, select Server URL and paste your MCP server URL
  7. Set Authentication to OAuth. Leave client ID and client secret empty
  8. Click Create
  9. Click Sign in with PlanRadar and log in with your PlanRadar user
  10. Review the PlanRadar page and click Connect ChatGPT

In a new chat, open the tools menu and select PlanRadar before you ask your question.

On Claude Team and Enterprise, an owner of your Claude organisation adds PlanRadar once for everyone. Each member then connects with their own PlanRadar user. On Claude Pro and Max, you add PlanRadar yourself.

To add PlanRadar for your organisation (owner, once):

  1. In Claude, open Organization settings, then Connectors
  2. Click Add custom connector
  3. Enter a name, for example "PlanRadar", and paste the MCP server URL
  4. Leave the OAuth client ID and client secret empty
  5. Click Add

To connect your own PlanRadar user (each member):

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors
  2. Click Connect next to PlanRadar
  3. Log in with your PlanRadar user
  4. Review the PlanRadar page and click Connect Claude

On Claude Pro and Max, open Settings, then Connectors, click Add custom connector, enter the name and URL, then connect as above.

Claude Code registers itself with PlanRadar (OAuth 2.0 with Dynamic Client Registration). You do not enter a client ID or client secret.

To connect Claude Code:

  1. Run this command in your terminal. Replace the URL with your MCP server URL:

claude mcp add --transport http planradar https://www.planradar.com/mcp

  2. Start Claude Code and type /mcp

  3. Select planradar and choose Authenticate

  4. Your browser opens. Log in with your PlanRadar user, review the PlanRadar page and click Connect

Codex registers itself with PlanRadar (OAuth 2.0 with Dynamic Client Registration). You do not enter a client ID or client secret.

To connect Codex:

  1. Run these commands in your terminal. Replace both URLs with your MCP server URL:

codex mcp add planradar --url https://www.planradar.com/mcp --oauth-client-registration dcr --oauth-resource https://www.planradar.com/mcp
codex mcp login planradar --scopes mcp, mcp.write --oauth-client-registration dcr

  2. Your browser opens. Log in with your PlanRadar user, review the PlanRadar page and click Connect

A LangDock admin adds PlanRadar once for your workspace. Each user then connects with their own PlanRadar user.

To add PlanRadar (LangDock admin, once):

  1. In LangDock, click Plugins
  2. Click Create, then Integration
  3. Select Connect remote MCP
  4. Paste the MCP server URL
  5. Set Authentication to OAuth 2.0 (Dynamic Client Registration). Leave client ID and client secret empty
  6. Save the integration

To connect your own PlanRadar user (each user):

  1. Open the PlanRadar integration in LangDock and connect
  2. Log in with your PlanRadar user
  3. Review the PlanRadar page and click Connect LangDock

Before an AI app gets access, PlanRadar shows you what it will be able to do. Read it before you click Connect:

  • Can see: your tickets, projects, plans, forms, files and reports.
  • Can do: for example create and update tickets, add comments and add files to Documents.
  • Cannot: delete anything.

The page also tells you where your data goes: what the AI app reads is sent to the company behind it and processed there. For example, what ChatGPT reads is sent to OpenAI.

If PlanRadar does not list the AI app, the page marks it Not verified by PlanRadar. Only connect apps you trust. Claude Code and Codex run on your own computer, so they always show this mark.

What the AI App Can Do

The AI app works with the same data you see in PlanRadar, in the projects you are a member of.

It can read:

  • Your projects and a status overview of each project
  • Tickets: search them, read their details, history and attachments, see what changed since a date, and summarise them
  • Forms (ticket types) and the users of a project
  • Documents: list and search files, read the text of a file and get a download link
  • Locations and plans
  • Approval requests
  • Project reports: list and read them
  • The schedule (read only)

It can change:

  • Create and update tickets, including checklist answers
  • Add comments to tickets
  • Assign tickets
  • Create projects, forms and filter views
  • Upload files to Documents
  • Invite people to your account by email. They join as in-house users
  • Export tickets as PDF or Excel, with a download link

It cannot delete anything.

What You Can Do with It

Because the AI app sees all your projects at once, you can ask questions that would take many clicks in PlanRadar. Ask in your own words, in your own language. For example:

Get answers across all your projects

  • "Which subcontractor has the most overdue tickets across all my projects?"
  • "Make a table with one row per project: open tickets, overdue tickets and the next schedule milestone."
  • "What changed on tickets in my projects since Monday?"

Write reports and updates

  • "Summarise progress in Building B this week for the developer."
  • "How far along is Building A, what is overdue and what blocks completion? Write it as a short summary for management."
  • "Write a status update for the buyer of Apartment 24. Leave out internal names."
  • "Describe our forms, their fields and statuses as a short guide for new site managers."

Compare and check

  • "Compare last week's and this week's weekly report and list what changed."
  • "Read both electrical inspection reports in Documents and match each defect to a ticket. List the defects that have no ticket yet."

Update tickets from the chat

  • "Set ticket 4 to Resolved, add a comment that the door closer was replaced and move the due date to Friday."
  • "Create a ticket in Building B: missing fire stopping at riser R3, level 3, due next Friday."

Combine with your AI app

  • Use the AI app's own features: "Show the overdue tickets per subcontractor as a bar chart", "Export the result as an Excel file", "Turn this summary into a PDF".
  • Combine PlanRadar with other connectors your company already uses in that AI app, for example SharePoint: "Compare the open tickets in Building B with the defect list in SharePoint."

Keep in Mind

  • The AI app cannot delete anything.
  • The schedule is read only. The AI app cannot move or change schedule tasks.
  • The AI app invites people to your account, not to a specific project. Adding them to a project and setting their role and permissions is done in PlanRadar.
  • New forms created from the chat can only have simple fields: short text, long text, date, yes/no and user. Add checklists and lists in PlanRadar.
  • It cannot link directly to a ticket's position on a plan.
  • Files uploaded from the chat can be up to 25 MB per upload.
  • Each connection can send a limited number of requests per minute. Above that, the AI app receives "Too many requests on this connection. Retry in N seconds."
  • Download links expire: after 15 minutes for documents and ticket files, 60 minutes for ticket exports and project reports, and 2 hours for plans. Ask the AI app for a new link if one stops working.
  • Answers depend on the AI app you use. Check important numbers in PlanRadar before you act on them.

Disconnect an AI App

You can disconnect your own AI app at any time. It loses access straight away, and you can connect it again later.

To disconnect an AI app:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Click Profile
  3. Click Connected AI apps
  4. Click Disconnect next to the app
  5. Click Disconnect to confirm
