Setting up PlanRadar

Set Up Plans & Folders for a Project

Overview

Every ticket in PlanRadar belongs to a Location — the term the app uses for a folder or a plan. A new project therefore needs at least one folder before your team can save a single ticket, so creating the folder structure is the first thing you do after creating the project.

This article walks through what to put in place, and links to the article that covers each job in detail.

Access & Permissions

Create the Folder Structure

Click Plans in the main menu and select your project in the project drop-down. Folders are containers and can hold other folders, so you can mirror how the project is organised on site — a folder per building, then per block, then per floor.

Start with the levels you are sure about. Folders can be added, renamed and moved at any time, and tickets travel with them.

Add Plans to Your Folders

Upload the drawings into the folders where your team expects them. You can upload many at once, or hand PlanRadar a whole folder from your computer.

Two things to plan for:

  • Calibration. Calibrate a plan's scale and north before your team measures on it or uses it for SiteView.
  • Quota. Plans count against an account-wide quota, and every version of a plan counts as one. Keep an eye on the counter in the toolbar when you upload a large set of drawings.

Set Up a Project Without Plans

Folders on their own are a complete setup. If your team organises tickets by building, floor, room or asset rather than working on drawings, create the folder structure and add no plans at all.

Tickets sit on a folder and behave like any other ticket. They have no pin position, so your team works with them in the list view — on mobile a folder shows a note that it has no plan view.

Copy a Structure From Another Project

When projects repeat, duplicate one instead of rebuilding it. The duplicate dialog has a Plans section with Copy folder structure, and Copy plans and models to bring the files along as well.

What Your Team Does Next

Once one folder exists, your team can start working:
